about Nick

I'm a user experience designer with a passion for designing easy to use interfaces. I'm a big fan of putting technology to good use in making our lives that little bit easier. If along the way we have made it look great too, then we have done well and deserve a drink.

I'm also very interested in learning more about the tasks and goals of users, the positives and negatives they experience with a system to help find problems to give us the data needed to solve them. I'm enjoying learning from users before I have any idea of what the problem is.

The UK UX community loves to share their experiences and ideas and I take advantage of these opportunities as often as I can by attending the UKUPA, Oxford UX Bookclub and UX Camp London events. Living outside of London it can be more difficult to attend the London UX events, so when the UKUPA advertised the position of UK Liaison I put myself forward and was successfully voted to the committee. My role involves helping to run London events, improving communications with UX communities around the UK and assisting them in holding events.

and when I'm not doing this...

I live in Cholsey, Oxfordshire, but I'm originally from the North. I like to travel and have managed to see some of the world, which just leaves me wanting to see more of it.

I also love to ride my bicycle, hike up mountains, take photographs, discover new music and listen to the stuff I already have. I once played guitar in a band '3am decision' from 1998 to 2000, but I doubt you've heard of them.
